Why Integrate Political Engagement? ..... because it is engrained in the Purpose of Higher Education

Political Engagement is engrained in higher education as its purpose is to :

1. advance knowledge in a diverse set of fields.
2. effectively educate undergraduate and graduate students so that they will in turn serve others within this nation and beyond, both through their specific vocations and as citizens.
3. serve society through its unique set of resources and relationships. (Burkhardt, Chambers, and Kezar, 2005)
