Evaluating Policy - Student Activity

1. Following discussion of a controversial topic or social problem (see Civic Dialogue Module), assign work groups the task of generating policy to address it. Have each group present the policy statement they formulate to the class and discuss the policy-making process as they just experienced it, with particular emphasis on the challenges of policy making.
2. Have work groups find a statement of policy (or statement of various policies) and critique the policy on the aspects described above. (It may be desirable to compare policies in this exercise which address different social problems.)
